Agribooth Technological Solutions Limited, with headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria has been selected as one of the top 100 startup companies globally by Startup Istanbul to compete amongst other startups to emerge as the best startup company for 2017. The contest is to be held in Istanbul Turkey from the 20th to 23rd of October, 2017.

Agribooth is a company that is a one stop platform for everything agriculture, with particular focus on the provision of modern farming equipment to farmers at a cheap rate using modern technological services. Agribooth also has services that: cater to farmers who wish to buy equipment and inputs for their own use; provide news and information to farmers; provide a forum for farmers to interact with other farmers globally; provide consultation services to aid agricultural business model development; and lastly to enable farmers have access to funds required to grow their businesses.

Startup Istanbul is an organization that brings together founders, investors and mentors from all across the globe. All 100 startup companies selected are mentored and given the platform to make pitches to a host of investors, all in a bid to secure investments.

An interview with Mr. Raymond Chen, founder of Agribooth and Mr. Benedict Ezeokwelume, co-founder of Agribooth gave insight on the recent development. According to them, they felt proud that Agribooth was selected as one of the top 100 startups globally, and it gave them the validation needed that the idea to provide these services to farmers was the right call.

Mr. Raymond Chen stated “Nigeria as a whole is one of the largest markets globally for food products with a population in excess of 150 million, however as most farmers are low income earners unable to purchase expensive modern farm equipment, we saw the potential to provide these services to them through low cost leasing services. Essentially Agribooth shoulders the burden of purchasing farming equipment on behalf of farmers and leasing it to them.”

Mr. Benedict Ezeokwelume added that “Agribooth found a way to combine agriculture with Information Technology, and our system has ensured that farmers can book tractors on our platform easily in a couple of minutes”.

While the Agribooth team has expressed delight at being selected as one of the top 100 startups globally, they regretfully will not be able to attend the event due to conflicting schedules.
